now & they are "sitting up" in my room talking. It's hard work to keep the children out so that they can do their courting. I hear them talking quite cheerily - (new pen) The day before, or perhaps the morning of the same day I received your last & extremely welcome favor, I felt so uneasy about you, that I took the privilege of writing as neat a little note as I could to Mr. Watts, & told him that as I had not heard from you since your last visit to Durham & as Nannie had also failed to write, I feared you were sick, as your were not well when I last saw you & could not help feeling uneasy as you were always so punctual in writing to me & asked him when he heard last - I did not let on to know that you had any trouble with his firm, I only added that I regretted to learn there was some misunderstanding between you & the old man duke & asked him if he could not act as peace-maker & prevent further trouble & thus bring down a blessing on his head, as life is too short to be wasted in unpleasant of feeling toward each other. He replied in this nice note which I enclose to you. Don't let him know I sent it, unless you feel like writing to him; per- haps it would be well to write him a friendly letter at my request & see if they will do right - I do dread for you a worry & possible loss in the law suit. Secure Watts in friendship. Now is your time - strike while the iron is hot, if the cost will not be too great & may God bless & direct you -

Fondly

Sis.
Tell the "little Queen" my cow has a little calf and I will have plenty of nice milk for her when she comes - Lots of love for you all - Write soon as you can
- Sis.
