less cost than at first. Still I am in favor of giving them the option & if we can place the Plant at $60 or 70,000 would do it be all means. I wish very much that you could attend the meeting in Boston on Sept 2nd. When I was in Boston, I saw Mr Whitlemore who seems to be the agt [agent] of the Syndicate & had quite a chat with him. he seemed to think that there ought to be at least one or more mills in the South Asked what sort of a showing we could make told him that we had only been in the business 18 m onths his reply was that of course we could not make a showign for we had not had time to more than get things in shape.

Mr. Carr is not in town but may be here tomorrow
