house this week. I understand Slaughter of Lynchburg will come here, after a hard fight with Carr & Parrish to prevent. Mrs. Stokes gave birth to twins a few days ago. They were joined together with a ligament, one being well developed, the other without head or arms. They died soon after birth, a very strange freak of nature. Hope you have had a paying trip south. Warren has backed down in regard to our buying leaf for him. Haven't heard from Pinkerton since we shipped him the last hhd [hogshead] of tobacco. Dont understand why he does not write as he promised to do as soon as goods arrived. Hope to see you down soon.

Yours &c.

Thos. D. Wright
