Our subscribers are among the best people of the town. A. M. Rigsbee JS Carr J. W. Markham & Stokes & Geer, lots of smaller fry. I have tried to scatter the stock so as to make the bank strong. As you see from circular, we opened for business Monday & started off with a very good showing indeed our deposits the first day footed up forty odd thousand dollars. I donot know a bank that ever had a more liberal charter or started under more favorable auspices. If we donot make good money I donot see why. Mr. Watts doesnot (Correction: does not) want the Presidents (Correction: President's) place and you would have no opposition for it, if you will come in with us. We could get the balance of our stock taken at once, but we prefer to place it with people that will be instrumental in building up the business of the bank. The D & Northern RR is now running and the Lynchburg is to be completed this year & several nice projects are on foot so I expect Durham will soon put in her city [dues? or dress?] again. We would be very glad indeed to have you join us, & I am confident it will form a good investment. I have somuch faith in it that I am going to mortgage every thing I have to get money to put in it. With best wishes for your success & a speedy return I am

Very Truly Your friend

W. M. Morgan
