This letter is written on stationery from the Citizen's Insurance Company of Newark, New Jersey.

I was much surprised to find that you wrote such a good hand. Annie and Lessy cant touch you-and in fact you beat many of these College young lady bloods-all over the state of whom I've heard. You must take pains for one or two years longer and then you'll be able to write as you wish. Miss Jinnie Webb reaches (Correction: reached) Chapel Hill Monday night last. I shall call on her at an early day. Went up to see Dr. Le Doux and his nice little lady last evening-don't know when I've enjoyed a visit more. They are fixed up so cozily that it really makes me feel like getting a wife myself. I'll not go about this kind of business in earnest though until seven or eight years shall have passed, after which time I propose to keep
