British subject, 20 years in Cairo and well connected in high Egyptian Gov. circles, and will, I feel sure, interest the Kidive's Bro. with him, and he defies all the Greeks in Egypt. I doubt if he commences operations before I see you, but I thought best to advise you so you would be posted in case you have a letter from him. I will make the cape about the 1st of June and hope to be in Lynchburg about the 15th of August (keep this mum) and will see you and give you full details. We have a good field now in Egypt if we can make the oval cigarettes and reduce the lap. Do what is possible to this end, as much depends on it, provided Manuk fails to get a Gov. monopoly of the tobacco and cigarette business, which he hopes to do by associating with the Kidive's Brother and other high officials with him, then he will have protection from the Egyptian army as well as the British (he being a British subject) and they will defy all the other manufacturers and their operatives. Write me c/o E. E. Bert & Co., Port Elizabeth, S. Africa. With best wishes, I am,

Yours &c.,

(Signed) R. H. WRIGHT.
