Your letter written from Atlanta came duly to hand and should have been answered sooner. But there was nothing of interest to write. I have written to the parties suggested by you and have heard from only one of them (Wilson & McCauley of Middletown Ohio). They say they are not on the market, having a large stock on hand. From the way new cutters are selling here, it does seem to me we are bound to get a small profit from the White & Knott tobacco. That class of cutters new, are bringing as much on this market to day as you paid for them. If we fail to get profit on our goods in Richmond I dont see how I am to live, as the little surplus in my possession when I came here is about exausted (Correction: exhausted).
